My first Mod...

My first Modulus Graphite purchase, this is the five string bass I recorded most of the “Youthanasia” album with (along side a 1978 four string Fender Precision bass). As I was looking to expand my tones, I had just relocated from Los Angeles to Phoenix and happened into The Bass Place in south Scottsdale. One of the employees loaned me his swamp ash Modulus bass for a couple days and I fell in love with it immediately. Quickly, bought the one pictured here from the owner Geoff Gould at the factory in San Francisco so I’d have it in time to record the LP. They were a very small boutique builder who had limited stock on hand and this one has a blue quilt maple top and had an exceptionally clear & solid sound. I believe I traded it a short while later for another Modulus that another employee at The Bass Place owned. That store and its staff and I were fast becoming Modulus officianados and traded instruments back and forth for serval years into the early 2000’s. My love affair with Modulus basses continued until the company was sold in the early 2000’s. #everybasshasastory #basstory #modulusbass #megadeth35 #youthanasia

Another awes...

Another awesome night of Basstory compliments of our friends in Luxembourg. Six guitarists, three vocalists, two drummers and one bassist shook the rafters of The Rockhal last night. With Basstory, I am now reportedly the only artist to have performed in all three rooms of this terrific venue! Thank you to everyone who came out and celebrated a night of riffs and repartee! #basstory #everybasshasastory #luxembourg #rockhal

#everybassha...

#everybasshasastory Backstage with Marty Friedman on tour in 1999, I purchased this 1976 Fender Precision bass to record the four string songs on the “Risk” album (I used a Sadowsky 5 string for the five string songs). I purchased this bass at Gruhn’s Guitars in Nashville while on the session in January 1999 as we determined the album required a more vintage bass sound. I still have this bass and although I used it for the encore of “Anarchy In The UK” on the “Risk” tour ( through an Aguilar preamp box to help it fit more in line with the active electronic tones of my Modulus Basses on that tour) it is still a go-to bass when I record due to its plug n play tones in the studio. #basstory #fender
